Posted by hoangduc - October 15, 2026

She was just three years old when she disappeared from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3, 2007.

What followed became one of the world’s most closely watched missing-child investigations. Her pH๏τograph spread internationally as investigators pursued sightings, witnesses and multiple lines of inquiry.

Nearly two decades later, the case remains open.

German authorities have identified Christian Brückner as a key suspect, but he has never been charged in connection with Madeleine’s disappearance and has denied involvement. British police have also confirmed that he remains a suspect.

Brückner was released from German prison in September 2025 after completing a sentence for an unrelated offense. Before his release, Scotland Yard formally requested an interview with him, but he declined.

And the investigation did not stop there.

The Metropolitan Police says Operation Grange remains an ongoing investigation and continues working with authorities in Portugal and Germany.

More recently, reports in 2026 said British investigators had received a dossier containing new information relating to Brückner, while reports also indicated that British authorities were exploring the possibility of bringing him to the UK to face proceedings. Those developments remain part of an ongoing investigation, not a confirmed resolution of Madeleine’s disappearance.
